Summer tipsSummers can get very cruel in certain parts of the country where temperatures consistently stay over 40 degree Celsius. We can’t all take summer breaks and return when the weather is more favourable, so for those of you looking to stay cool during the summer, here are 5 summer tips:

Wear breathable fabrics and light colours

Instead of going for Polyester clothing, choose linen or cotton materials because they’re lighter so will sweat lesser in them. Also consider wearing slightly loose clothes. Make sure you choose light colours instead of dark colours as the latter absorb more heat, in turn making you feel warmer. Avoid black as much as possible as black absorbs the most heat.

Drink the right fluids to keep hydrated

The want to drink soft drinks are greater during the summer. However, you should consider avoiding them as they contain a lot of sugar, hence they will make you thirstier. Water is the best drink to stay hydrated. You could also try coconut water or natural homemade juices.

Carry sunscreen wherever you go

It is not just turning a darker shade when it comes to getting a tan from the sun, but you could also get sunburnt. Without adequate sunscreen protection, if you get sunburnt, patches of your skin might start to peel off like glue. Your skin will also burn. In case you’re sunburnt, apply Aloe Vera on affected areas of your body.

Keep bottles of cold water in the fridge and ice tray refilled

When you come back home from a long day, all you might need is some ice-cold water. Now, if you don’t have the latest model of refrigerator, you might not have chilled water or ready ice. So, instead of waiting for the next 20 minutes after you fill the ice tray or keep a water bottle in the fridge, consider completing this task in the morning before you head out.

Keep your bedroom cold

It can get difficult to sleep if you’re feeling too hot. So, you might consider getting an AC or an air cooler for your room. Both have their own advantages, so here’s what you need to know about air cooler vs ac to make a decision:

● Air coolers are way cheaper than ACs. Decent air coolers cost around Rs.5,000 but good ACs cost around Rs.30,000.
● Air coolers have limited capacity, so they can’t cool the room beyond a certain temperature whereas ACs have a much larger capacity.
● Air coolers do not offer any additional benefits but ACs come with added benefits such as night glow function, remote control, ambient temperature settings, etc.

So, if the summer doesn’t get unbearable, you could consider getting an air cooler, however, if you’re looking for benefits and a larger cooling capacity, an AC would be a better choice. These summer tips are a few ways you can beat the heat.
