Makkah: Hajji Ohi Aydarous Samri, aged 130 years, on Tuesday arrived in Makkah from Indonesia to perform Haj this year along with some 2.5 million Muslims from across the world.
Hajji Ohi Aydarous Samri is perhaps oldest Indonesian and Haj pilgrim who will perform the annual ritual in the month of August.
Hajji Ohi Aydarous Samri and six of his family members will perform Haj as the Guest of Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz, Saudi Gazette reported citing reports by local newspapers.
The King invited Hajji Samri and six of his his family members to perform Haj as his guests within his program of Guests for the Haj and Umrah.
On his arrival in Jeddah, the aged pilgrim was accorded a warm welcome from senior Saudi officials and the airport staff.
The likely date of Hajj this year is August 10 or 11, 2019. The Hajj day, called as Youm-e-Arafah, will be decided Thursday based on sighting of the moon of the month of Dhul Hijjah.
Haj is performed every year on 9th of Dhul Hijjah. It coincides with Eid al Adha which is celebrated a day later on 10th of Dhul Hijjah.
