Lucknow: Even as efforts are on to give a communal colour to the brutal murder of Kamlesh Tiwari, his mother has claimed that his son was murdered by a local politician over a temple land dispute.
"No one asked me what I feel, who I suspect. He (local politician) got my son killed. He is a land mafia. We had a dispute over a temple land," Kusum Tiwari, the mother, is qouted as saying by NDTV.
Kusum Tiwari's statement came in the midst of investigating agencies arresting five Muslims - 03 clerics and 02 others, for their alleged involvement in the murder case.
While Maulana Anwarul Haq and Mufti Naeem Qasmi - both from western Bijnor district, were arrested from Uttar Pradesh, Maulana Mohsin Sheikh, Faizan and Khurshid Ahmed Pathan were arrested from Surat in Gujarat.
Investigating agencies are of the view that Kamlesh Tiwari, the Hindu Samaj Party Chief, was killed because of the derogatory remarks against Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) he had made back in 2015.
Interestingly, Kamlesh Tiwari's son is also not ready to beleive the involvement of those arrested by the UP and Gujarat police team. Asserting that he did not have any faith in the local administration, he also demanded a probe of NIA.
"We want the National Investigation Agency (NIA) to probe the case. We do not trust anyone. My father was killed although he had security guards. How can we possibly trust the administration then?" Satyam Tiwari, the son, said.
Meanwhile, UP police said the woman seen in the CCTV camera outside Kamlesh Tiwari's home is traced. The woman had earlier been identified as one of three possible suspects in the killing of Tiwari along with two men both of whom are still on the run. The police however said prima facie it appeared that the woman was just a passerby.
"On questioning she said the two men had stopped her on the road and asked for directions. She helped them because she was familiar with the area", NDTV reported citing police sources.
The police had earlier recovered footage from outside Kamlesh Tiwari's home. The footage showed two men and a woman carrying a bag containing a box of sweets that police believe hid weapons. The suspects had claimed the sweets were a Diwali gift for Tiwari and were therefore allowed entry into the house, where they spent 36 minutes. Speaking on Friday, DGP OP Singh said this indicated the killers were known to Tiwari.
Kamesh Tiwari's murder is not an isolated incident. On October 8, BJP leader Chaudhary Yashpal Singh was gunned down in Deoband, while on October 10, BJP leader Kabir Tiwari was shot dead in Basti. Kabir Tiwari was also a former student leader and student groups went on a rampage after his killing, burning down government vehicles. On October 13, BJP corporator Dhara Singh, 47, was gunned down by unidentified assailants in Saharanpur.
