CBSE 2020 Changes

CBSE 10th, 12th 2020 Board Exam: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has made major changes in the 2020 Class 10th and Class 12th board examinations pattern. To make students familiar with the new exam pattern, the CBSE has uploaded on its official website Sample Question Papers for Class 10 and Class 12 both.

Along with the Sample Question Paper, the CBSE has also published the Marking Scheme.

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) conducts annual board exams in the month of February and March. The board exams are followed by Practical exams. From 2020 onwards, the CBSE plans to conduct Practical Exams also at External Exam Centres, like the theory exams.

The CBSE has also advised students to explore and practice Model Question Papers before appearing for the final exam.

  4. Click on the appropriate link to download previous years' Sample Papers.

According to the latest update, CBSE Class 10 and Class Question papers in 2020 will have more Objective Type Questions and lesser number of descriptive questions.

Critical Thinking Abilities

The CBSE sources said these chnages have been made to test students on their analytical abilities and reduce the scope of rote learning. Also, there will be more internal choices in CBSE Bboard exam 2020 in order to make the assessment student-friendly.

"The questions will be more in the nature of problem-solving. There will be more short questions (between 1 to 5 marks). The stress would be on probing the critical thinking abilities of students and test actual learning outcomes rather than allow students to score high marks by virtue of rote," a HRD ministry official said on the condition of anonymity.

ASL Test for Class 12

For Class 12 board exams, the students will be required for a 20 marks Assessment for Speaking and Listening (ASL) test. The test will be conducted to judge English language listening and speaking skills of the students. ASL will be conducted by the external examiners.

The CBSE has also eliminated few chapters form the syllabus of CBSE Class 12 Chemistry and CBSE Class 12 Physics for the academic year 2019-2020. Students must go through the latest CBSE syllabus to know the topics prescribed for the CBSE 2020 examination.

Internal Assessment

Earlier, Internal Assessment was not conducted for all the subjects of Class 12 like Maths, languages, Political Science. As per the new exam pattern, Internal Assessment of all subjects will be conducted and about 20% marks will be kept for this.

Thus, from February/March 2020 board exams, the theory papers will carry 80% marks. For Science and Fine Arts subjects however the weightage will remain unchanged.
