Toronto: Ravi Hooda, who is originally from India and currently living in Canada has been axed by his employer and removed from the local school body over anti-Muslim, Islamophobic message he posted on Twitter.

Ravi Hooda's Twitter post was in response to the permission granted to local Muslims to pronounce Adhaan - call to prayers, on loudspeakers at the time of Iftar when Muslims end Ramadan fast.

Permission was granted to Muslims to pronounce Azaan on loudspeakers as entry to mosques across Canada is suspended due to Coronavirus outbreak. Hooda however did not like the government gesture and vent his displeasure on twitter.

“What’s next? Separate lanes for camel & goat riders, allowing slaughter of animals at home in the name of sacrifice, bylaw requiring all women to cover themselves from head to toe in tents to appease the piece fools for votes", Ravi Hooda, from Brampton in the Canadian province of Ontario, wrote on Twitter.

Hooda’s tweet sent shockwaves across Canada, which is globally renowned for its liberal values. Taking note of the outrageous tweet Peel District School Board in Brampton announced that it had removed Hooda as ‘School Council Chair’.

“The Principal has begun an investigation. The individual is being removed from their role as School Council Chair and won’t be able to participate on council in any other capacity. Islamophobia is not acceptable and a clear violation of our Safe and Accepting Schools Policy", the school said in a message posted on its official Twitter handler @PeelSchools.

ReMax Canada, one of Canada’s top real estate marketing websites, also announced that it had terminated Hooda’s contract.

“We do not share nor support the views of Mr. Hooda. We can confirm he has been terminated and is no longer affiliated with RE/MAX. Multiculturalism & diversity are some of the best qualities in our communities, and we are committed to upholding these values in all that we do", ReMax wrote on Twitter.

Ravi Hooda's termination in Canada came amid similar action taken in UAE over the rising number of anti-Muslim and Islamophobic posts flooding different social media platforms.
