Chanidgarh: Punjab government Friday decided to cancel all pending Class 10 exams and decided to promote the students based on their performance in pre-Board exams.
The government however has not taken any decision about the date and time of holding Class 12 board exams 2020 and said it will wait for the decision taken by the Centre.
Announcing the decision to cancel the Class 10 pending exams, Chief Minister Amarinder Singh said all 10th students under Punjab School Education Board (PSEB) will be promoted.
“Class X students under Punjab School Education Board (PSEB) will not have to take any exams and will be promoted on basis of their performance in pre-Board exams,” the Chief Minister said.
The state government has also decided to promote students from Classes 5th to 9th.
“The state government has decided to promote all students of Classes V to X under Punjab School Education system to next class without any examination, in light of the unprecedented COVID crisis, which has led to prolonged lockdown/curfew,” the Chief Minister said.
The decision came soon after Union Minister of Human Resources Development (MHRD) announced that CBSE class 10 pending exams will be held only for the students in North-East Delhi.
The MHRD said Class 12th pending exams 2020 will be held between July 1 to 15, 2020.
The CBSE and state board exams were postponed because of Coronavirus Lockdown clamped in India on March 24, 2020.
