NTA refutes reports of NEET UG 2024 paper leak

NEET UG 2024: The National Testing Agency (NTA) has refuted the reports that the NEET UG 2024 paper has been leaked.

The medical entrance exam was held in around 557 cities across India and 14 cities abroad with many cities having multiple exam centres.

As per the NEET UG 2024 schedule, the entrance exam started at 02:00 PM and ended at 05:00 PM. Social media platforms however are abuzz with claims that the NEET UG 2024 question papers were leaked.

“Where the instances of ‘paper leak’ being claimed are completely false and it is being done just to sensationalise the news”, The Indian Express reported quoting an unnamed NTA official.

How the buzz started?

The National Testing Agency however admitted that the NEET UG question papers in English were “erroneously” given to Hindi medium students which led to the reports of paper leak.

"In an isolated incident at Girls Higher Secondary Adarsh Vidya Mandir, Mantown, Sawai Madhopur, Hindi-medium students were given English medium question paper by mistake. By the time the invigilator was correcting the mistake, students forcefully walked out of the exam hall with the question paper. As per the rules, students are only allowed to exit the exam hall with the question paper after the exam. But some students walked out forcefully.

"Due to this, the question paper was circulated on the internet around 04:00 PM - an hour before the exam ended. But by that time the exam had already started at all other centres across the country. So, there has not been any ‘leak’ of the NEET UG question paper,” Dr Sadhana Parashar, Sr Director NTA said in a statement released today.

"However, the NTA assures the public that apart from this isolated incident, the NEET UG 2024 examination commenced smoothly. The NTA reaffirms its commitment to conducting examinations with transparency, integrity and fairness”, she added.
