Jalgaon:
It
takes rounds of trips to the education department and blessings from
the politicians before a college management gets permission for an
additional division. In Jalgaon however the Deputy Education officer
sanctioned the permission for an additional division at a local
Junior college in one single move.
The
order though verbally came after the parents in a large number
gheraoed the Anglo Urdu High School & Noor Mohd. Chacha Junior
College in Jalgaon, the emerging industrial city in North
Maharashtra and demanded from the management to give admission to
their children who had cleared the SSC exams when the results were
announced June this year.
“Trouble began when few local newspapers carried the reports that
due to non-availability of enough seats in the existing junior
colleges, about fifty percent of the students may not get the
admission”, Abdul Gaffar Malik, Chairman Anglo Urdu High School &
Noor Mohd Chacha Junior College informed ummid.com.
Having three divisions, two for Science and one for Arts, Anglo Urdu
High School & Noor Mohd Chacha Junior College has strength of about
350 students and the College management had given the admissions for
all the available seats. Yet more than hundred students were still
in the waiting list.
“Worried parents hence turned to the college management. When we
informed them that the college has already given the admission to
its capacity and any further admission would only be possible if the
administration gives the permission for additional division they
turned violent”, said Gaffar Malik.
The
parents were so furious that the management had to call the
police who later requested the Dy. Education Officer Prakash Jadhav
to come and pacify the mob. In a swift move Prakash Jadhav gave the
orders for immediately starting an additional division.
"No student will be left
without admission", he said and ordered his subordinates to take
immediate steps.
Interestingly even after getting the permission for an additional
division, the college management had to accommodate more than
hundred students in one classroom.
