Bijapur: The parents of nine educated Muslim youths of Bijapur district wait for justice. They hope that newly sworn UPA government will bring justice to their innocent sons who were arrested on baseless charges.

The educated Muslim youths were arrested one and half years ago on the charges of their alleged involvement in the Bangalore and Ahmedabad blasts after being falsely associated with SIMI. They have neither been charge sheeted nor have they been sent for trial. Hence bail also cannot be obtained. Let alone this they are also On tortured and harassed by retransferring them from one jail to another, from Bangalore to Mumbai, Gujarat and Delhi, in the name of investigations about the charges put on them.

Similarly, some Muslim students were arrested here in Bijapur on the charges of sticking anonymous bills on the walls of the city on the occasion of the fifteenth anniversary of the demolition of Babri Masjid and were later released. However, five of them are still languishing in Gulbarga Jail, who have neither been charge-sheeted and nor have been yet bailed out. It is being said that police are trying to link them with SIMI and implicate false charges against them. The student who have been imprisoned in Gulbarga Jails are Yaseen Mulla (dental student), Shan Kareem (dental Student), Abdul Kadir and Yaqub Mashalkar (both are petty business owners) and another student Abbas.

The parents of these youths have not only approached the local courts but also have approached the high court of other states as well by spending huge amount of money to get their sons at least bailed out. These families of these youths are living under such a terrible condition that they are on a verge of collapse.

The most regretting was when one of the youth's father had died two months ago. The youth, Shan Kareem was brought under tight security and chained. This created an atmosphere of tension which also showed how inhuman the police officers can be. The police did not even open those chains during the last rites and the prayer too.

Shan Kareem has once again approached the court as the final examination of his BDS course is commencing from June 29. Shan Kareem has applied for parole from 15 to appear for the examination

The relatives of Shan Kareem have expressed their hope that the newly sworn in UPA lead by PM Manmohan Singh government will do justice with their innocent sons and that they will be released.

Will their sons be released? A question that will remain unanswered or will it be unanswered.
