Islam and Terrorism

Defining Peace

“I was seriously injured in an accident while I went to Dhule once in 1987 on my motor cycle. With my chin dismantled and few broken teeth, I was taken to a nearby radiologist for X-ray. There stood a huge line in waiting but the X-ray machine was not functioning. Profusely bleeding, I requested the doctor for a chance to repair the machine”, said Viquar Ahmed. To everyone’s surprise the machine was ready within minutes. “And the only concession I received was, I got my x-ray done without waiting in the line”, he said with a rare innocence.

The incidence just demonstrates what type of a man Viquar is. A Guinness Book of World Records entity and Har Fun Maula, master of all, type personality, he drives three motor cycles altogether, that too with varieties of actions, rickshaw sitting in the passengers’ seat and also, hold your breath, from top of the rickshaw-roof. And doing all this is not without risk to his life, he has experienced fractures almost on every part of his body and had to undergo several surgeries. “But during all these surgeries I have never allowed using blood or glucose bottles and had on every occasions declined to take the help of an anesthetist”, he said proudly.

"Stating that he can open any lock within seconds, Viquar says, although regularly lured by people with vested interests, he has never indulged in any kind of illegal activities."

And his challenging attitude and stubborn nature came in full display when despite his wrist having fractures; he agreed to demonstrate riding on two motorcycles simultaneously and to give breathtaking snapshots for ummid.com. Recalling his wonder-rides with the bikes, Viquar, now 42, said that he was only 11 years old when he started driving 6.5 hp, 1958 make Imported Triumph that weighed 250 KGS and was undeniably one of the heaviest motorcycles.

However this is not the only thing that makes him distinguished and stand high. Apart from master-riding, he had demonstrated his technical caliber at various occasions repairing the unattainable faults in various machineries where the masters had failed. But it is the motorcycles and the rickshaws where he has attained such an expertise that even the authorized service centers send the vehicles with the faults unattainable by them. To set the imbalanced fork of the rickshaw, people have no option but to come to Viquar and not only people from adjoining places but from far away places like Indore and Surat come for this task.

Interestingly, people come to him traveling miles and spending thousands but Viquar charges them just 30-50 rupees depending on the extent of the faults and this brings yet another characteristic of this wonderful man to fore, the very social and the cooperative nature of Viquar Bhai, as most of the people like to address him lovingly.
