Mumbai:
“The AUDF is a political amalgamation of different socio-religious
and educational organizations of all the Muslim denominations and
other religions in Maharashtra. Dalit, OBCs and all those socially
or politically oppressed or discriminated with are the integral part
of Maharashtra AUDF under the leadership of Maulana Badruddin
Ajmal”, says Dr. Azimuddin, Secretary General of Maharashtra AUDF.
In a press statement Dr. Azimuddin disclosed that Maharashtra AUDF
is all set to contest general election at least in 7 Lok Sabha
constituencies in the state. He said the party has already filed two
candidates Mr. Yunus Manyar and Mrs. Mamta Vinayakrao Khandelkar
from Yavatmal-Washim and Amravati (SC) Lok Sabha constituencies
respectively which go for polling in the first phase on 16th April.
In Akola and Buldhana constituencies Maharashtra AUDF could not
nominate candidates from party ticket due to a technical problem at
time of form submission still Mr. Mujahid Khan, alias Mazhar Khan
and Bilal Seth independent candidates respectively from both
constituencies will be fully supported by Maharashtra AUDF.
“The two actually would have been the party’s official candidate if
we were allowed by the election commission to do so, says Farooq
Mithaiwala, vice president of Maharashtra AUDF.
Maharashtra AUDF is surly nominating three more official candidates
in Pune, Thane and Mumbai north-central whose name will be declared
for the press and public after the nomination is filed. Imtiyaz
Peerzada, In-charge Western Maharashtra and vice president of
Maharashtra AUDF said, “We are putting candidates only in the
constituencies where we think we are in a fighting position”.
The party received nearly 50 applications from various
constituencies out of which only 7 have been granted by the party
president Badruddin Ajmal, says Tarun Rathi, Mumbai president of
Maharashtra AUDF. AUDF has so far nominated candidates in Assam,
West Bengal and Maharashtra. AUDF may nominate a few more candidates
in Bihar, Jharkand and UP in next few days with Lock & Keys as
party’s election symbol.
