PM accuses BJP of dividing people on communal lines

Mumbai: Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) is promising to bring in millions of rupees reportedly deposited in Switzerland banks by the Indians. "We will bring in the money in Swiss bank if voted to power and will use them for the development of the country", Advani, BJP's prime ministerial is asserting while addressing the election rallies. But the BJP poll plank received serious criticism from Raj Thakray, its one time partner.

Coming down heavily on BJP, Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) President Raj Thakray criticized BJP’s pre-election promise to bring back the black money from Swiss Banks. “They say if NDA comes to power, they will bring back the money saved in Swiss Bank. Is the Swiss Bank a retail shop where you will go and get what you want?” Raj Thakray said lambasting the BJP’s poll plank. The firebrand MNS chief was speaking with the media at Mantralay, the state headquarter in Mumbai.

In reply to another question Raj Thakray also raised doubts over the BJP’s promise to construct the Ram Mandir. Recalling that BJP had won the earlier elections on the promise to construct the Ram Mandir, he asked, “They were in power for five years. Why then they did not fulfill their promise to construct the Ram Mandir?”

Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) is contesting a total of twelve seats out of forty-eight in Maharashtra. Of the twelve seats on which MNS is contesting the elections, six are in Mumbai. This is the first time MNS has fielded its candidates in the Parliamentary elections. In earlier elections, Raj Thakray was in Shiv Sena, the party founded by his uncle Bal Thakray. Due to differences with his cousin Uddhav Thakray, however, Raj split with Shiv Sena and formed his own political party. He recently drew the media headlines when the activists allegedly belonging to Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) attacked the North Indians residing in Mumbai and other parts of the state.

Raj Thakray also ridiculed BJP’s persistent demand to hang Afzal Guru, the accused sentenced to death in the Parliament attack case. “On one hand BJP leaders demand to hang Afzal Guru and on the other they give the party ticket to those who were defending the same person in the court”, he said referring to Ram Jethmalani whose son Mahesh Jethmalani is contesting the parliamentary elections from Mumbai on BJP ticket.

Sare Jahan Se Accha

Hindustan Hamara

In 1905 more than 100 years from today, when Iqbal was a lecturer at the Government College, Lahore he was invited by his student Lala Hardayal to preside over a function. Instead of making a speech, Iqbal sang Sare Jahan Se Accha Hindustan Hamara in his style. Iqbal compiled this poem in praise of India and the poem preaches the communal harmony that had unfortunately started ceasing in India by that time. Each and every word in this poem depicts an Indian’s respect and love for the motherland and the values the Indian society inherited for long...Read Full
