Cairo: The
first international meeting of Shia Muslims will be held with the
presence of eminent figures of the world of Islam in March 2011 in
Cairo, Egypt.
Mohammad Al-Doreini, head of the Supreme Council for Ahlul Bayt
(AS) in Egypt said: “The meeting has been planned with the aim to
fight terrorism and stress on unity among Muslims. The meeting will
be attended by eminent figures and intellectuals from the Islamic
countries.”
“Saleh Al-Heidari, head of the Shia Waqf Diwan in Iraq, Ahmad Al-Samarrai,
head of Sunni Waqf Diwan in Iraq, leader of Syrian Orthodox party
in Iraq, Muqtada Al-Sadr, leader the movement in Iraq and Ahmad
Al-Sayyed Al-Safi representative of Grand Ayatollah Seyyed Ali
Systani will be among the figures to be invited for the meeting",
he added.
"Ali Jum’ah,
Mufti of Egypt, Mukarram Mohammad Ahmad, head of the Union of
Egyptian Journalists, Fahmi Huwaidi, famous Egyptian writer, Pope
Shenouda III, Egypt's Coptic Christian leader as well as a number
of Egyptian researchers and intellectuals are also expected to
grace the occasion", he said.
The council has also invited Ahmad Al-Tayyeb, Sheikh of Al-Azhar
to address the international conclave.
