Damascus: The
Syrian-Indian Centre for Informatics was inaugurated here
Wednesday, Xinhua reports.
The centre, built at a cost of $3 million, includes three training
scientific labs, a library, a data centre and equipment to train
600 trainees for two years.
The centre is the first of its kind in Syria, SANA news agency
reported.
Syrian Prime Minister Mohammad Naji Otri said the centre will
enhance informatics' role in people's lives.
The project is part of a framework for technological cooperation
between Damascus and New Delhi.
Indian President Pratibha Patil visited Syria in November, during
which she inaugurated the Syrian-Indian Business Council. She also
held talks with her Syrian counterpart Bashar al-Assad over
bilateral relationships.
