MP increases medical aid amount to freedom fighters

Bhopal: The Bharatiya Janata Party ruled Madhya Pradesh Cabinet has decided to increase the medical assistance grant sanctioned to the freedom fighters in the state from Rs. 20,000 to Rs. 50,000.

     

It may be mentioned that the freedom fighters belonging to Madhya Pradesh are being extended various facilities under the Madhya Pradesh Swatantrata Sangram Sainik Samman Nidhi Niyam-1972. These also include the medical assistance grant.

     

At present, the freedom fighters are sanctioned financial assistance up to Rs. 20,000 for treatment of serious ailments. Taking into account the unprecedented increase in the cost of medical treatment in the prevailing circumstances, the State Cabinet has increased the medical assistance grant of freedom fighters to Rs.50,000.

     

It may be further mentioned that at present freedom fighters are sanctioned medical assistance grant up to Rs. 5,000 by the Collector concerned. The proposal exceeding this amount is sent to the state government.

 

Moreover, in the wake of the aforesaid decision, the district Collector would now be empowered to sanction financial assistance up to Rs.20,000 to the freedom fighters at their level.

 

The amount of medical expenses exceeding this limit would be sanctioned by the state government. The Cabinet meeting was presided over by the state Chief Minister, Shivraj Singh Chouhan.
