Malegaon: A day after TV Channel office was vandalized after it exposed the sensational Hindutva plot to assassinate Indian Vice President Hamid Ansari, a VHP leader admitted that the protest outside the TV Channel office was staged at the behest of senior leaders.

"It was not exactly preplanned, as the protesters were informed at a very short notice to assemble at the Headlines Today office at Jhandewalan to protest the false news being broadcast by the news channel against the RSS and its leaders. All the office bearers of the district offices of RSS and VHP in Delhi were asked by the RSS central office to come with their supporters," Mid-Day quoted Satyaveer Singh, vice president of the VHP's Lajpat Nagar branch in Delhi as saying.

"I got a call at 2 pm, asking to come with my people to the Park near Headline Today office. When we came to the spot, more than 1,000 activists were shouting slogans against the channel and demanding that the channel clarify why they were defaming our leaders. Soon, some of our supporters entered the building and ransacked the office", he added.

However, BJP spokesperson Tarun Vijay said it was not the protesters who vandalised property. "This is a baseless allegation. The protesters were protesting peacefully and democratically against the false stand of the Headlines Today against the RSS."

"The office of Headlines Today is on the 13th floor where as the demonstration was at ground level. When the police came they wanted to remove the peaceful demonstrators during which a scuffle took place. This is being projected by secular sultans as an attack on them", he said.

Meanwhile, Congress Spokesperson Mohan Prakash said, "We condemn attacks on media houses as everyone in this democracy has right to expression. If the RSS has anchored the attack it shows that they believe in violence."
