New Delhi:
No trucks loaded with explosives are missing from Madhya Pradesh
or Rajasthan, the Lok Sabha was informed Tuesday.
The home ministry has denied reports that 160 trucks containing
explosives that were sent from Madhya Pradesh to Rajasthan had
gone missing in April-June.
"The trucks did not reach their pre-decided locations. The 160
trucks containing explosives sent from Rajasthan for Madhya
Pradesh, by two firms, were diverted to locations such as Bhilwara
(Rajasthan), Ashok Nagar (Madhya Pradesh), Ahmed Nagar
(Maharashtra)," said Mullappaly Ramachandran, minister of state
for home.
Rajasthan Police have so far recovered 9,126 kg of class II
explosives, 130,623 metres of cord and safety fuse wires and
20,305 electric and ordinary detonators.
The government of Madhya Pradesh has requested to get the matter
investigated.
"Licence of two firms that have been found involved in this case
has been either been suspended or cancelled," Ramachandran said.
