Bhadohi
(Uttar Pradesh):
After Congress general secretary Rahul Gandhi's comments equating
the Rashtriya Swayamsewak Sangh (RSS) with the outlawed Students
Islamic Movement of India (SIMI), senior Congress leader
Sriprakash Jaiswal Friday described the two outfits as "two sides
of the same coin".
"Both the organisations have been creating communal divide...
practising separatism... creating rifts among the masses. They are
actually two sides of a same coin," Jaiswal, minister of state for
coal, told reporters in this Uttar Pradesh town, 250 km from
Lucknow.
Jaiswal arrived in Bhadohi to attend the death anniversary of a
Congress leader in the Gopiganj area.
Launching a no-holds barred attack on the RSS, Gandhi in Madhya
Pradesh Wednesday branded the outfit "fanatical".
Meanwhile, taking strong exception of Jaiswal's remarks, the
Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) here said that like Gandhi, Jaiswal
too needs to enlighten himself about the contributions of RSS in
"nation building".
"His (Jaiswal's) remarks are disgraceful... It seems he doesn't
know anything about the Sangh Parivar. He needs to know the outfit
first before making any comments," BJP spokesperson Vijay Bahadur
told reporters in Lucknow.
