Pune:
In order to keep pace with the fast growing IT world, Pune based Information Communication
Technology (ICT) Academy is organising a day-long seminar-cum-competition
for school teachers February 12 to promote e-learning.
“Information Communication Technology (ICT) Academy since last two years
is organising IT seminar-cum-competition to create awareness among
the Urdu medium school teachers about the importance of computers
in the education field”, Samreen Shaikh, the event coordinator and
the IT Incharge at Azam Campus, Pune informed ummid.com.
“During the day-long event, the participants would be asked to
design PowerPoint presentation on different topics given by us.
The idea is to judge their IT literacy level, and then based on
their performances, we would take them for skill upgradation
sessions”, she added.
“The best performers would also be awarded with special and consolation
prizes”, she said.
Established by renowned educationalist PA Inamdar, ICT Academy is part of Azam Campus – the huge
education hub in Pune, which runs over a dozen professional and
academic courses besides having high school, junior college, college of
education and senior college. Brainchild of computer savvy Inamdar,
ICT Academy has a total of 21 centres in and around Pune, and also at
Aurangabad, Ahmednagar and Junnar. It is giving computer education
to school children and housewives totally free.
“Besides the teachers associated with ICT Academy, others from Urdu medium schools in Malegaon and Lonavala are also taking part in Saturday’s competition and skill
upgradation program”, Samreen said.
“The participants would also be given an overview of advanced
software tools like PhotoShop and Flash, which are very useful
while using computers as teaching tools”, she said.
Well aware of the importance of IT
education, ICT Academy is regularly organising such events. In December,
2010, it had organised similar program for the students of
English, Urdu and Marathi medium schools of Pune district.
