BJP MP Yogi Adityanath denies funding Ajmer blast

Gorakhpur (Uttar Pradesh): Denying allegations of funding the 2007 Ajmer blast, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) parliamentarian Yogi Adityanath said here Monday that he was being implicated in the case at the behest of the union government.

The Gorakhpur MP said he was ready to face any probe in the case.

"All is being done on the directions of the UPA (United Progressive Alliance) government that wants to malign the image of Hindu religious leaders and Hindu outfits," Adityanath told reporters at a press conference in Gorakhpur, some 300 km from Lucknow.

"I am willing to face any enquiry. I will welcome the investigation agencies if they come up with some evidences against me," he added.

Adityanath's denial comes after reports that Bharat Bhai, a terror accused in the Ajmer blast, has named him as a financier for the terror plot.

"For political gains such charges are being levelled against me," alleged Adityanath.

Three people were killed and 17 others injured when a bomb exploded soon after evening prayers Oct 11, 2007 at the Sufi shrine in Ajmer.
