"The blast took place because of the scrap in the house. The scrap material was brought from the army and had a bomb in it," Tikamgarh Superintendent of Police Aakash Jindal told reporters.

Among the seven killed, four were children and most of them were of the same family. The three injured have been referred to Gwalior for treatment.

The administration announced Rs.50,000 compensation for the kin of each of the deceased and Rs.25,000 for the injured.
