New Delhi: The
Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) Friday announced a
country-wide protest against foreign investment in multi-brand
retail from Jan 1, 2013 soon after the policy was passed in the
Rajya Sabha.
The policy was passed in the Lok Sabha Wednesday.
"We have convened a national convention of representatives of
different stake holders all over the country from January 1. The
same the day the agitation will also be kicked off," CAIT generalk
secretary Praveen Khandelwal told IANS.
Khandelwal said the voting pattern adopted by certain parties
during a voting on the contentious issue in the both the houses of
parliament was a result of "manipulative politics".
"We strongly condemn the collusion between the United Progressive
Alliance and Samajwadi Party and Bahujan Samaj Party," he said.
"SP and BSP have destroyed the opposition unity on the important
issue which has greater ramification on the livelihood of crores
of people, particularly the downtrodden," he said.
