Delhi road may be named after Tendulkar

Tuesday January 03, 2012 10:45:05 PM, IANS

New Delhi: A road in Delhi may be named after cricketer Sachin Tendulkar, Delhi Mayor Rajni Abbi said Tuesday.

The Municipal Corporation of Delhi may consider a proposal moved by a councillor on the issue.

"A proposal regarding this has been moved by MCD councillor Suman Kumar Gupta. We will consider it," Abbi said.

"FM Radio 104 had received around two lakh requests for naming a capital road after Tendulkar. They forwarded the request to us," said the mayor.

MCD Leader of House Subhash Arya said the civic agency will be happy to name a road after Tendulkar.

"We will be happy to do that but the current convention is that a road is named after someone only posthumously," he said.
