MP Govt. to institute Ustad Amir Khan National Award

The Bharatiya Janata Party ruled Madhya Pradesh Government will
institute a Rs. one lakh award to perpetuate the memories of
famous classical vocalist Ustad Amir Khan.
This announcement was made by Madhya Pradesh Culture Minister Laxmikant Sharma after inaugurating three-day "Rag Amir" held to
mark the Ustad Amir Khan's birth centenary year and completion of
Silver Jubilee Year of Ustad Amir Khan Samaroh at Indore on
Friday, an official release said.
The Culture Minister reportedly said that Ustad Amir Khan's house
at Indore will be preserved by the Archaeology Department with the
consent of his family. When Ustad Amir Khan's son Shahbaz Khan
expressed the desire to open a Sangeet academy, Sharma assured
to extend full cooperation on behalf of the State Government if he
does so.
The festival being held under the joint aegis of Ustad Alauddin
Khan Kala Evam Sangeet Akademi of Sanskriti Parishad and Madhya
Pradesh Public Relations Department will continue till January 22.
Ustad Amir Khan's son Shahbaz Khan and disciple Tejpal
Singh were specially present on the occasion, the release added.
