Azaan contest in Bhopal on March 10

Bhopal: The second “Azeem-ush-Shaan Musabaqa-e-Azaan” (contest of rendering call for prayers to Muslims) will be held here on March 10 at the historic Iqbal Maidan.

According to Qazi Azmat Shah, a member of the organising committee, the contest will be held in two age groups viz. Boys up to 15 years and above 15 years.

 

About 112 applications have been received for the contests in both the categories.

 

After the preliminary rounds on March 5 and 6 in all 20 contestants will be selected, ten from each group, for the final round to be held on March 10 after the Isha prayers.

 

The “Musabaqa-e-Azaan” is being organised by the local Arif Masood Fans Club.

Cash prizes to the tune of Rs. 42,000/- along with trophies and certificates will be awarded to the winners and participants of the final round. In each of the two categories participants emerging first, second and third will be presented cash prizes of Rs. 7,000/-; Rs. 4,000/- and Rs. 3,000/- respectively along with trophy and certificate. While the rest of the 14 participants who fail to finish among the top three in the two categories will be handed over Rs. 1000/- each along with certificates.

Maulana Mohammad Saeed Mujaddadi (aka Peer Saeed Miyan), rector Darul Uloom Taj-ul-Masajid, Bhopal, will preside over the final round and Bhopal Shahar Qazi Maulana Syed Mushtaq Ali Nadwi will be the chief guest. While Nayab Qazi Maulana Syed Babar Husain Nadwi, Bhopal Shahar Mufti Maulana Abdul Kalam Qasmi and Additional Mufti Maulana Mohammad Raees Qasmi would be guests of honour on the occasion.
