AMU Court approves enhancement in VC's retirement age

Aligarh: The special meeting of the Aligarh Muslim University Court, the supreme governing body of the University today resolved to approve with a voice majority vote the amendments/additions in Statute 2(5) of the Statutes of the University relating to age of retirement of the Vice Chancellor from 65 to 70 years.

The meeting was presided over by the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Sibghatullah Farooqui. All local members and some outside members of the University Court attended the meeting.

Earlier, the executive Council had unanimously decided to enhance the age of superannuation of the Vice Chancellor from 65 to 70 years and recommended to the University Court the amendment/additions in statute 2(5) of the University recommending that the word ‘sixty-five’ might be substituted by the word ‘seventy’.
