Mumbai:
Members of the All India Jamiat Ahle Hadees governing body sat
today in New Delhi to elect the president and other office bearers
for the next five years. After the election, it became clear that
majority of the members were in favour of
the tried and tested.
"The members of the All India Jamiat
Ahle Hadees governing body today unanimously elected Hafiz Yehya
as the National President and Asghar Ali Imam Mehdi as the
Secretary General", Dr Saeed Faizee, President of the Jamiat Ahle
Hadees Maharashtra said while speaking to ummid.com.
This will be the second term for
Hafiz Yehya as president and Asghar Ali Imam Mehdi as Secretary
General. They were earlier elected to the posts in 2007.
The only exception is the election
of Vakeel Pervez as the treasurer of the All India Jamiat Ahle
Hadees. Vakeel Pervez, who hails from Nagpur, is one of the vice
presidents of Jamiat Ahle Hadees Maharashtra.
Though the election is being termed
as unanimous, insiders say, there are the reports of dissents
against the old body among some members. However, those against
Hafiz Yehya and Asghar Ali Imam Mehdi could not even field
candidates to oppose them and force head count.
The All India Jamiat Ahle Hadees has
over 3 crore members all across the country. Today's national
elections were preceded by the elections of Jamiat Ahle Hadees
state and district units that were held phase-wise in the last six
months.
