Madhya Pradesh ex-minister Raghavji arrested in sexual abuse case
Tuesday July 9, 2013 7:18 PM, IANS

Former Madhya Pradesh finance minister Ragahvji, who had to quit after his servant accused him of sexual exploitation, was arrested here Tuesday, police said.

The former minister was taken to the Habibganj police station after his arrest, a police official said, adding that he was arrested from a house in Kohefiza area of the city.

The Congress, however, accused Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan of trying to shield his colleague.

"The charges against him (Raghavji) are condemnable. The chief minister tried to save him but could not," party general secretary and former chief minister Digvijaya Singh told reporters in New Delhi. Chouhan rejected the charge and said the law will take its own course.

Raghavji resigned from the cabinet Friday on Chouhan's direction after his domestic help Rajkumar Dangi accused him of sexual abuse.

Dangi claimed that a sex CD had also been made.

"I have not seen the CD," said Chouhan.

Police Sunday registered a first information report (FIR) against the former Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) minister. The party expelled him July 7. Raghavji went into hiding and was on the run the past two days.
