Malegaon: The Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) has seized cash, jewellery and goods worth crores of rupees along with bank account and property papers from the house of Maharashtra Wakf Board CEO ND Pathan.
The ACB had caught red-handed the Maharashtra Wakf Board CEO Pathan Saturday while he was taking bribe in cash. The ACB later raided his house and found huge wealth in cash and other forms. The ACB had to bring currency counting machine to assess the exact number.
"The ACB has seized 01 crore 30 lakh in cash along with jewellery worth millions from the house of ND Pathan whose house was raided last night after he was caught taking bribe", a local reporter said while talking to ummid.com.
"The ACB has also found bank account papers and property records from his house during the raid", he said.
Tthe Anti Corruption Bureau had on Saturday caught Maharashtra Wakf Board Chief Executive Offficer (CEO) N.D. Pathan red-handed while taking bribe in cash at his residence in Naded. He was later arrested and a case was filed against him.
The shocking incident occurred barely few days after Union Minister for Minority Affairs K Rahman Khan while addressing the CEOs from the different states mulled an efficient system for effective managment of the Indian Wakf.
Pathan was caught red-handed after a complaint against him was filed by one Shaikh Kareem, a resident of Nanded city. Kareem had taken an agricultural land on lease for the board. Kareem wanted the lease which had expired this year to be renewed and had subsequently approached Pathan to see if the lease could be extended.
N D Pathan had been posted as the CEO of the Waqf Board in 2011 and had been operating from the the head office in Aurangabad.
Pathan had allegedly asked for a bribe of Rs 1.5 lakhs from Shaikh Kareem to ensure that the land stayed in his possession. Police officers in Nanded said that an installment of Rs 50,000 had been paid by Shaikh who subsequently approached the Anti Corruption Bureau.
Shaikh was supposed to hand over the next installment of Rs 30,000 to Pathan when the ACB decided to trap him at Pathan's residence at Nanded.
ACB officers trapped him accepting the bribe and had registered a case in Nanded.
