Aligarh: Forum for Muslim Studies & Analysis (FMSA) on Thursday wrote a letter to Union Health Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad demanding that the minority medical colleges should be exempted from any rule or Act prescribing National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET).
"National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) for the admission in MBBS course - strucked down by the Supreme Court of India is again being implemented by the Central government through an Act, is infringement of right granted to the minorities by the Constitution", said Jasim Mohammad, Secretary General of Forum for Muslim Studies & Analysis (FMSA) while chairing a meeting at Media Centre Aligarh.
He pointed out that the minorities particularly Muslims are lagging behind in higher and professional education and minority medical colleges have been establishment for their medical educational empowerment, but the steps of the Central government are undermining their progress.
Convener Farhat Ali Khan said that constitution of India has granted special rights to minorities in Article 30 of constitution to establish the educational institutions of their choice and when the conditions will be imposed upon them, then these institutions will fail to achieve their goal.
Prof. Razaullah Khan said that the Central government should made entry of minorities in the medical sciences and other professional courses easier in the light of Sachar Committee Report. "But its working exactly opposite to this. Its shocking", he said.
