Khartoum: Sudanese Journalist Aida Abdul Hameed Gimish was honored with the award of “Best Social Reporting Story” for her feature story titled "Increased kidney patient cases, beyond technical capacity of the hospitals" that recounts the suffering of kidney dialysis patients in Sudan.
According to Sudan News Agency (SUNA), the story was published in Al-Khaleej daily newspaper.
In response to the report, a charitable organisation in United Arab Emirates reacted by donating 19 million UAE dirhams for the Society of Kidney Patients Friends in the Emirate of Sharjah, to be used for treatment of kidney patients residing in the UAE.
The award was handed by Sheikh Abdul Malik bin Kayed Al Qassimi, the special advisor to Ruler of Ras Al-Khaimah and chair of the UAE Social Development Society.
