Malegaon: As All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) firebrand leader and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi lands in Malegaon - the Muslim dominated powerloom city in North Maharshtra, on Saturday to address yet another rally, people are reminding him about the promises his party made in the run-up to the Maharashtra assembly polls.
"Where is the school the MIM wanted to establish in Malegaon? When the MIM will build the hospital in Malegaon Akbaruddin Owaisi wanted to name after his grandfather?", Mustaqueem Dignity, General Secretary of Janata Dal (Secular), asked.
Mustaqueem Dignity was talking to ummid.com ahead of Asaduddin Owaisi's scheduled rally in Malegaon on Saturday May 28, 2016.
Dignity said the two Owaisi brothers come in Malegaon for a rally every six months or so, heap lofty promises, indulge in emotional lose talks and then disappear.
"Malegaon has its own problems which need consistent efforts for a meaningful solution. Owaisi brothers will be fooling people if they think they will solve local issues by addressing rallies and organising road shows", Dignity added.
Akbaruddin Owaisi, Asaduddin Owaisi's younger brother and senior AIMIM leader, during his maiden visit to Malegaon while campaigning for the party candidate had promised to build a school and hospital in the city - irrespective of the election result.
"The MIM candidate from here wins the election or not that is a different matter. I have seen here people dying for sanitation facilities and for proper schooling. I promise to build a school and hospital in the city for the people of Malegaon", Akbaruddin Owaisi had said that while addressing a rally for party candidate Abdul Malik.
Interestingly, the AiMIM had made it a publicity point when Akbaruddin Owaisi visited Malegaon on February 27, 2015 after the 2014 state elections. It was highlighted on huge hoardings that Owaisi Jr will lay the foundation stones of the proposed school and hospital during his visit. However, neither the foundation stones were laid nor Owaisi Jr uttered a single word during his speech about the promise he had made to people of Melagaon.
When contacted, the MIM office in Malegaon refused to say anything on the issue. Party sources however said that land for the purpose has already been purchased in Bagh-e-Mehmood area of Malegaon, and contsruction work for the proposed school and hospital will begin very soon. But when? The party functionary has no answer to this question.
Meanwhile, preparations are on at Ansar Hall Ground for Asaduddin Owaisi's rally to be held from evening 07:00 to 10:00 pm today evening. Owaisi is accompanied by party MLAs Waris Pathan and Imtiyaz Jaleel.
An estimated 100,000 people are expected to attend the rally for which huge LED screens have also been installed.
