Rubina Hoor Bano, Jamal Haider among 272 to contest Delhi MCD polls as BJP candidates

New Delhi:
Rubina Hoor Bano, Jamal Haider, Fahimuddin Safi, Kuwar Rafi, Sartaj Ahmad and Sabra Malik are six Muslims who have been confirmed as the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) to contest the Delhi MCD Polls 2017 to be held on April 23, 2017.

According to the final list of the BJP candidates released by party cheif Manoj Tiwari, Rubina, daughter of sitting corporator Hoor Bano will contest the 2017 North Delhi Municipal Corporation elections from Quresh Nagar Ward No. 089-N. Besides her mother, Rubina's brother Imran Ismael has also represented this ward in the past.

Jamal Haider has been fielded as BJP candidate from Abul Fazal Enclave Ward No. 102-S of South Delhi Municipal Corporation.

Another Muslim who will contest the 2017 MCD polls on BJP ticket is Fahimuddin Safi. He has been fielded from Delhi Gate Ward No. 88-N of North Delhi Municipal Corporation.

Kuwar Rafi has been finalised as the BJP candidate from Zakir Nagar Ward No. 100-S of South Delhi Municipal Corporation.

Sartaj Ahmad and Sabra Malik have been respectively fielded from Chauhan Banger Ward No. 41-E and Mustafabad Ward No. 58-E of East Delhi Municipal Corporation.

Other prominent faces who have been given ticket by the BJP include Poonam Parasar Jha, Delhi BJP Mahila Morcha president and wife of former MLA Anil Jha. She will contest from Mubarakpur Dabas ward in North Delhi Municipal Corporation (NDMC).

There are a total of 272 wards in the three Delhi Municipal Corporations, 104 each in South and North Delhi municipal corporations and 64 in the East Delhi municipal corporation.

Filing of nominations for the April 23 election ended at 6:00 pm on Monday. Candidates who got the tokens were seen completing formalities for filing of nominations even after the given time.
