San Francisco: The first day buyers from different parts of the world were upset as the $1000 iPhone X reported an issue, with many users complaining that they couldn't activate the newly launched gadget.
"The issue seems to be affecting some AT&T, Verizon and Sprint users in the last few hours when they tried to get service on Apple's $1,000 phone. When users tried to activate the device, a message popped up saying, 'The activation server is temporarily unavailable', The Verge reported late on Friday.
A buyer tweeted: "Hey @Apple not sure if you heard, but the #iPhoneX came out today. Maybe fix the activation server? Now, please."
"Well I got my iPhone X. Activation appears to be another issue entirely. Continuous 'could not activate iPhone' message," tweeted another user.
According to MacRumors, the issue appeared to be due to heavy congestion with so many new devices being released into the wild at once.
It said several buyers were able to get their phones activated, though after multiple attempts, while others have gotten it to work after a restart or via iTunes.
It is also reported that the issue could just be related to iPhones purchased directly from Apple and not from the carriers in the US.
Apple has not commented on the issue yet. But, AT&T says the activation problem is fixed.
"Some of our customers experienced a delay activating their iPhone X. The issue was not specific to our customers and is resolved", AT&T said in a statement.
Apple introduced its much-awaited iPhone X globally, including in India, on Friday amid heavy demand.
