Dubai: Sarah Al Amiri, UAE Mars Mission Deputy Project Manager and Science Lead, has been on Thurdsay appointed the Minister of State for Advanced Sciences in the latest cabinet reshuffle by Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.
“Sara will be in charge of R&D or research and development and building capable scientists. Sara also heads the UAE Council of Scientists and the nation’s Mars Mission. We want hundreds of models like Sara to contribute to the future of the UAE,” Shaikh Mohammad said while announcing her appointment on the new post.
With a focus on Science and Research, Mohammad Bin Rashid also appointed Omar Bin Sultan Al-Olama, 27, as state minister for Artificial Intelligence.
“We want the UAE to become the world’s most prepared country for Artificial Intelligence,” Sheikh Mohammed said.
The Dubai ruler tweeted that the new structural shake-up came after the government’s recent annual meetings and launch of the UAE Centennial plan 2071, WAM reported.
Others who have been included in the new cabinet are Shaikh Nahyan Bin Mubarak Al-Nahyan who has been appointed as minister of tolerance. Hessa Bint Eisa Bu Humaid is the new minster of community development. Nasser Bin Thani Al-Hameli was named as minister of human resources and Emiratization, and Noora Al-Kaabi has been appointed minister of culture and knowledge development.
Shaikh Mohammad also announced the appointment of Mariam Al Muhairi as the Minister of State for Future Food Security of our Nation, with respect to research, planning, and technology.
“Food security is a national issue of the future, necessitating research, knowledge, and projects. Our faith in our youth is high,” Shaikh Mohammad said.
