New Delhi: While the country's Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who otherwise is very vocal and quick to respond on other National and Internationa issues, mainbtains total silence on Senior Journalist Gauri Lankesh’s murder, the acting US Ambassador to India has condemned it.
On Wednesday, the Charge d'Affaires of the US Embassy in New Delhi MayKay Loss Carlson posted a tweet with hashtag #PressFreedom.
Calling her a respected journalist, Charge d'Affaires Carlson said that the US Mission in India supports advocates of press freedom who are condemning the Gauri's killing.
“The U.S. Mission in India joins advocates of press freedom in India and world-wide in condemning the murder of respected journalist Gauri Lankesh in Bengaluru. We offer our sincere condolences to the family, friends, and colleagues of Ms. Lankesh,” said Carlson.

They pumped several rounds of bullets into her body from a very close range and then fled away on their motorcycle.
While the Karnataka government has ordered a SIT probe into her death, the Union Home Ministry has sought a report from the state government on Gauri’s death.
Earlier on Wednesday, the Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi attacked BJP and RSS for Gauri’s murder while saying that those who don’t follow their ideology are killed.
The BJP, RSS have also condemned the Gauri’s murder.
Meanwhile, nationwide protests were held across the country on Wednesday to condemn Gauri Lankesh's brutal murder. She was buried on Wednesday evening with full state honours at a cemetery in Bengaluru's Chamarajpet.
