Sangli Miraj Kupwad Municipal Corporation Election Results Live: The Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) has won 41 of the total 78 seats in Sangli Miraj Kupwad 2018 Municipal Corporation elections and dethroned the ruling Congress from the important civic body in Kolhapur region.
The Congress party and NCP contested the Sangli Miraj Kupwad Municipal elections 2018 forming a pre-poll alliance. They have together won 35 seats - NCP 15 and Congress 20, according to the results declared by the State Election Commission Friday.
Swabhimani Vikas Aghadi and Apuksh Mahaghadi have won 01 seat each. Shiv Sena and AIMIM could not win a single seat in Sangli Miraj Kupwad 2018 elections.

06:30 pm In a surprising reversal of poll results, the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP), which was lagging behind the ruling Congress and NCP, is now ahead in as many as 41 of the total 78 seats of Sangli Miraj Kupwad Municipal Corporation where counting of votes to elect a new body is still underway.
The Congress party and NCP are contesting the Sangli Miraj Kupwad Municipal elections 2018 forming a pre-poll alliance. They are together leading in 35 seats - NCP 15 and Congress 20, according to the results available at 06:30 pm.

12:15 pm According to the results available at 12:15 pm, all the 04 candidates of NCP in Prabhag 06 have won the elections. The 04 NCP candidates in Prabhag 06 are Nargis Syed, Moinuddin Bagban, Raziya Qazi and Ather Naikwadi.
Likewise, Mangesh Chavan and Ferose Pathan of Congress have won the SMKMC 2018 elections in Prabhag 15.
Trends at 11:45 am also showed that the BJP candidates are leading in 08 seats whereas others are leading in 02 seats.
11:45 am According to the results available at 11:45 am, all the 04 candidates of NCP in Prabhag 06 have won the elections. The 04 NCP candidates in Prabhag 06 are Nargis Syed, Moinuddin Bagban, Raziya Qazi and Ather Naikwadi.

08:00 am The 78-member Sangli-Miraj-Kupwad Municipal Corporation is currently ruled by Congress which has a total of 41 members. Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) has 19 members whereas Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) has 01 corporator. The civic body also has 09 Independents and eight members from local outfits.
Voting for th 2018 elections ended on Wednesday August 01 in Sangli-Miraj-Kupwad where about 62% of the total electorates cast their votes to elect the new body of Sangli Miraj Kupwad Municipal Corporation (SMKMC).
Polling was held from morning 07:30 till late in the evening on Wednesday for the 78-member Sangli Miraj Kupwad Municipal Corporation (SMKMC). Polling percentage in 2013 SMKMC elections was 61%, an official said.
Sangli has 4,24,179 eligible voters in 20 Prabhags. Counting of votes will be held on Friday August 03, 2018. The results of Sangli Miraj Kupwad Mahanagar Palika (SMKMC) 2018 elections will also be declared on the same day.
According to the State Election Commission, a total of 451 candidates from different parties, including a good number of independents, are contesting the 2018 Sangli Miraj Kupwad Municipal Corporation (SMKMC) elections.
In Sangli, tension prevailed in polling booth in ward number 15 when some candidates alleged that the Electronic Voting Machine was malfunctioning and all votes were going to the BJP.
Congress and NCP have formed pre-poll alliance in Sangli-Miraj-Kupwad. While the Congress has fielded 44 candidates, NCP has given the party ticket to 34 candidates. BJP is contesting on 78 seats, Shiv Sena on 56 seats, Swabhimani Vikas Aghadi on 20 seats, Sangli Jillah Sudhar Samiti on 21, All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) on 08 seats and Independents on 43 seats.
