Hyderabad: Firoz Bakht Ahmed, Firoz Bakht Ahmed, grand nephew of freedom fighter and the first Education Minister of independent India Maulana Abul Kalam Azad, has been nominated as the Chancellor of Maulana Azad National Urdu University (MANUU) for a period of 3 years.
According to a notification released by the registrar, MANUU on Thursday President of India Ram Nath Kovind in his capacity as Visitor of the university has appointed Firoz Bakht Ahmed as the fifth Chancellor of the University. He succeeded Zafar Sareshwala.
Firoz Bakht Ahmed is grand nephew of Maulana Abul Kalam Azad, first Education Minister of India. Educationist, social activist and columnist, Firoz Bakht is a prolific writer. He has authored many books in Urdu and Hindi, specially on Children’s Literature.
Firoz Bakht is also a freelance journalist and columnist. His columns and articles appear regularly in various widely circulated newspapers across India.
Firoz Bakht was also associated with Madrasa Modernisation and Urdu medium schools upliftment. He was appointed by the courts in various committees, enquiry committees assisting the judicial procedures for prompt justice.
He has been associated with Maulana Azad National Urdu University (MANUU) before its inception in 1997 as foundation panel member.
