New Delhi: Students who are appearing for JEE Main January 2019 exams should be fully prepared as the National Testing Agency (NTA) has not taken as of now any decision to change the JEE Main 2019 schedule because of the Trade Unions nationwide (or all India) strike.
As per the schedule released by NTA, the JEE Main (I) will be held from January 08 to 12, 2019. However, speculations were rife that the NTA might change the dates because trade unions have called for a nationwide strike on January 08 and 09, 2019.
Students appearing for the JEE Main (I) should note that the NTA has not taken any decision to change the JEE Main 2019 time table. Hence, JEE Main 2019 will be held as per the announced schedule. In case there is any last minute change, the NTA will publish a notification on its official website.
"The National Testing Agency will be conducting the Joint Entrance Examination (Main) – January 2019 in Computer Based Test mode at different centres located in 273 cities throughout the country and abroad from 8th January 2019 to 12th January 2019", the official notification said.
The students appearing for JEE Main (I) were confused as about 10 leading trade unions of the country including CITU, INTUC, AITUC, HMS, AIUTUC, SEWA and others have called for two day nationwide strike on January 8 and 9, 2019. The strike is likely to affect normal road transport and may also hit the rail service.
This is why students and parents were hoping that the NTA might reschedule the JEE Main 2019 dates. However, as of now the NTA has maintained a guarded silence. Hence it is most likely that the JEE Main will be held as per the announced schedule and students should be ready.
The NTA had on December 18 released the JEE Main 2019 Admit Card of the students.
"The e-Admit Cards of candidates (who have paid the fees) have been uploaded on the JEE website www.jeemain.nic.in and the candidates are advised to download their e-admit card of JEE (Main) – January 2019", NTA said.
"In case any applicant is not able to download his/her e-Admit card, he/she may send email to jeemain-nta@gov.in The candidates may note that no Admit Card will be sent by post", it added.
In a significant change from this year, JEE Main Computer based tests will be held over many days and students were given options to choose a date. Also from this year, it was decided to hold JEE Main twice in a year - first in January and another in April. Moreover, if a student appears for the JEE (Main) twice, the best of his/her two scores will be taken into account.
