Chennai: India is the first country to make the entire Haj 2020 process 100 percent digital. This became possible after the Indian Govt signed a bilateral agreement with Saudi Arabia on Sunday, Minority Affairs Minister Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi claimed.
The agreement was signed by Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi and Saudi Haj And Umrah Minister Dr. Mohammad Saleh bin Taher Benten in Makkah in Jeddah.
After signing the agreement Navi said with digitisation, online application, E-Visa, Haj mobile app, É-MASIHA' ( E- Medical Assistance System for Indian Pilgrims Abroad) health facility, É-luggage Pre-tagging'providing all information in India itself regarding accommodation /transportation in Makka-Madina have been provided to Indian Muslims going for Haj.
The agreement enables a platform for digital pre-tagging of the pilgrim's luggage. Also, the digital facility would enable people to get information about the building and the room allotted to pilgrims. The digital platform will encompass whole details of the transportation & travel after reaching the airport in Saudi Arabia for the Indian pilgrims.
The Minister said Haj Group Organisers (HGOs) have also been connected with 100 percent digital system which has ensured transparency in their functioning for better facilities to Indian Haj pilgrims. The whole digital process would bring more transparency in India thereby eliminating the middlemen and enable the pilgrims to access much better facilities.
A portal of HGOs - haj.nic.in/pto (Portal for Haj Group Organisers) has been developed which contains all the details of HGOs and their packages.
This year, a 100-line information and helpline centre has been established at the Haj House, Mumbai for providing information regarding the entire Haj process. All processes like linking the SIM card to the mobile app will ensure the Haj pilgrims to get latest information regarding Haj in Makkah-Madina on an individual mobile phone.
A tweet from the Union Minister Naqvi said, a total of 2 lakh Indian Muslims will perform Haj in 2020. The tweet also read that the Union government in coordination with Saudi Arabian Govt, Indian Consulate and concerned agencies is working to ensure safety and better facilities, medical facilities for Indian pilgrims during Hajj 2020.
"The whole process has been successful because the Ministry of Minority Affairs has taken effective and successful steps during the last 4 years to make Haj and other programmes completely digital as a part of the digital India campaign by PM Narendra Modi", Naqvi said.
