New Delhi: 39 Muslim doctors are among a total of 440 recommended for various medical posts to be filled based on the Combined Medical Services (CMS) Examination 2018 conducted by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) the final results of which were declared Tuesday.
Out of the total 40 Muslim doctors, who made to the list of 440 successful candidates, 17 are females.
As per the Merit List released by the UPSC, 09 Muslim doctors figure among top 100. FEBIN ASHRAF bagged the 11th rank whereas MADINA SOWJANYA ranked 15, SADIQA NASREEN H ranked 17 and ATIQ UL ISLAM ranked 34.
Other Muslim doctors who are among top 100 are MOHD QARIB (Rank 42) and AMRIN NAAZ (Rank 72), FURQAN MOHAMMED AHMED (Rank 79), HAJIRA FATHIMA S (Rank 94) and MOHAINUDHEEN SHARUK (Rank 97).
In 2017 UPSC CMSE exam, 40 Muslims were in the list of 637 successful candidates. Among them 13 were Muslims. On the other hand, 43 Muslims had figured in the list of 894 successful candidates in 2016 Combined Medical Services Exam.
The UPSC CMSE 2018 results are declared based on the result of the Computer Based Examination (Part – I) of the Combined Medical Services Examination, 2018 held by the UNION PUBLIC SERVICE COMMISSION on July 22, 2018 followed by Personality Test (Part – II) held in November 2018 to January 2019.
"The candidates who have been recommended for appointment to the services/posts in the (i) Assistant Divisional Medical Officer in the Railways; (ii) Assistant Medical Officer in Indian Ordnance Factories Health Service; and (iii) Junior Scale Posts in Central Health Service", the UPSC said.
Of the total 440 candidates recommended for appointment to the above posts, 218 candidates are in General category, 207 are from the OBC, 10 are from SC whereas 05 candidates are STs.
"Appointments to the various services/posts will be made according to the number of vacancies available and subject to the candidates fulfilling all the prescribed eligibility conditions and all verifications, wherever due, being completed satisfactorily", the UPSC said.
"Allotment of candidates to various services/posts shall be made according to ranks obtained and preference of services/posts expressed by them", it added.
