Eid 2019 Date India, Pakistan, Bangladesh: Eid al Fitr will be celebrated in India and Pakistan on Wednesday June 05, 2019, it is announced by the moon sighting committees in the two countries. Religious authorities in Bangladesh however said the new moon was not sighted today. Hence Eid in Bangladesh will be celebrated on Thursday June 06, 2019.

"A meeting of Ruyat-e-Hilal Committee, Imarat-e-Sharaiyah-Hind was held today at 1, Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg in New Delhi. Although the sky was not clear in Delhi, it has been verified that the moon was sighted in several parts of Gujarat and Assam state", Ruyat-e-Hilal Committee of Imarat-e-shariyah-Hind under Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind, New Delhi said in an official statement released Monday.

"Maulana Fazlul Karim secretary Jamiat Ulama-i- Assam and Maulana Hakimuddin Qasmi Secretary Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind have confirmed mass sightseeing of moon in Assam and Gujarat. It is hence announced that Eid will be celebrated in India on Wednesday June 05, 2019", the statement said.

Ruet-e-Hilal Committee, Pakistan had earlier confirmed sighting of Shawwal moon on Tuesday and celebration of Eid in Pakistan on Wednesday June 05, 2019. Muslims in part of Pakistan, including Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, celebrated Eid on Monday.

Eid al Fitr 2019 Moon Sighting Live Updates

09:00 pm (India Time): The Shawwal moon is sighted in India and Pakistan and hence Eid-ul-Fitr will be celebrated on Wednesday June 05, 2019, it is announced today.

A meeting of central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee was held in Karachi, Pakistan under the chairmanship of Mufti Muneeb-ur-Rehman for the Shawwal moon sighting. The announcement regarding moon sighting was made by Mufti Muneeb after testimonies were received from different parts of the country, GEO News said.

Reports of moon sighting poured in soon after Maghrib prayers from all parts of India including Malegaon, Dhule, Mumbai and Aurangabad in Maharashtra, Hyderabad and Secundrabad in Telangana, Guwahati in Assam, Kolkata in West Bengal, Faizabad and Lucknow in Uttar Pradesh, Katiyar and Purnea in Bihar.

Eid al Fitr in Bangladesh will be celebrated on Thursday June 06, 2019 as the new moon could not be seen in the country Tuesday.

08:45 pm (India Time): Eid-ul-Fitr will be celebrated in Bangladesh on Thursday June 6, 2019 as the Shawwal moon was not sighted in the country on Tuesday. The decision was taken at a meeting of the National Moon Sighting Committee on Tuesday evening after reviewing the information of the Shawwal moon sighting.

After the meeting, state minister for religious affairs Sheikh Md Abdullah disclosed the matter at a press briefing. He said there was no confirmed news of moon-sighting from 64 districts, local media reported.

Reports of moon sighting have been received from almost whole of India. Moon sighting committee in Pakistan is expected to make official announcment shortly.

07:50 pm (India Time): Eid moon is sighted in various parts of India including Malegaon, Dhule, Hyderabad, Mumbai, Assam, Faizabad and Lucknow in Uttar Pradesh, Katiyar in Bihar.

In Pakistan, Maghrib prayer has just finished and moon sighting committees in Lahore and Islambad will start their meeting soon.

07:40 pm (India Time); Maghrib prayers in India is over and the Moon Sighting Committees in Delhi, Hyderabad, Lucknow, Kolkata, Patna, Chennai and other parts of the country have started their meeting to receive, analyse and confirm the Eid moon.

In Pakistan, Maghrib prayer has just finished and moon sighting committees in Lahore and Islambad will tsrat their meeting soon.

05:30 pm (India Time): The Central Moon Sighting Committees in India, Pakistan and Bangaldesh will meet after Magrhib prayers today i.e. Tuesday June 04, 2019, corresponding to 29th Ramadan 1440H, to receive, analyse and confirm the Eid moon.

An official Eid moon sighting announcement in India, Pakistan and Bangladesh is expected shortly after Maghrib prayers because weather condition is dry and there is a clear sky all around.

As Maghrib prayers is performed in Bangladesg earlier than in India and Pakistan, moon sighting announcement from Dhaka will come first.

02:15 pm (India Time): Central Moon Sighting Committees and religious authorities in India, Pakistan and Bangladesh have issued appeals to Muslims in their respective countries to sight the crescent, Eid Moon or Eid Chand, Tuesday June 04, 2019 corresponding to 29th Ramadan 1440H.

The Central Moon Sighting Committees, also known as Markazi Ruet-e-Hilal Committees, have also made special arrangements to sight the new moon and decide the first day of Eid 2019 in India, Pakistan and Bangladesh.

The moon sighting committees in the three countries will hold special meeting today after Salate Maghrib and ascertain, if any, reports of moon sighting.

Appeals to sight moon have also been issued by Hilal Committees in Lukcnow, Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Patna, Ahmedabad, Kolkata, Chennai and other cities in India. Official decision by Central Moon Sighting Committee Pakistan, Religious Affairs Ministry Dhaka and Central Moon Sighting Committee New Delhi is expected soon after Salate Maghrib Tuesday evening.

A new month in the Islamic Calendar is decided based on sighting of the crescent – the new moon, on the 29th day of an ongoing month. If the moon is sighted on 29th, the new month begins the next day. Otherwise, the next day is counted as the 30th and last day of the ongoing month and the next day is the first day of the new month.

This process is followed as per the tradition of Prophet Mohammad (peace be upon him). The beginning of Ramadan has traditionally been based on “hilal” sightings, which is the traditional method mentioned in the Quran and followed by the Prophet Muhammad.

Muslims in Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait, Jordan, Morocco, Egypt, Iraq, Syria, Palestine, Yemen, Sudan, Tunisia, Oman and other GCC nations are celebrating Eid al Fitr today i.e. Tuesday June 04, 2019.

Muslims in the Arab States decided to celebrate Eid al Fitr after Shawwal moon singhting announcement was made by the Saudi Royal Court on Monday.

In Turkey, United States, Canada and UK Tuesday June 04 marks as the first day of Eid al Fitr 2019.

Eid al Fitr marks the end of Ramadan - the month of fasting in which Muslims across the world refrained from eating and drinking during day time. Special prayers, including Traweeh prayers, were offered all across the Muslim world. A huge amount of money and food were also donated in the Holy month of Ramadan to help the poor and needy.
