New Delhi/Islamabad: Saudi Arabia's Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Adel Al-Jubeir will first visit India then reach Pakistan, media reports said Saturday.
Amid the rising tension between India and Pakistan, it was reported that Adel Al-Jubeir will arrive in Pakistan on Friday carrying a "very important" message from Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.
However, media reports in Pakistan now say that Adel Al-Jubeir's visit to Pakistan has been delayed. For, he will first visit India on Saturday and then reach Pakistan on Sunday.
A change in Saudi Foreign Minister Adel Al Jubeir’s schedule means that he will be visiting India first, and is expected to arrive in Pakistan on Sunday, Express News reported.
It was earlier announced that the Saudi foreign minister would arrive in Islamabad on Friday, however he didn’t arrive as announced, the report said.
The Saudi minister's visit is the first from the foreign minister of any country since tensions broke out between Pakistan and India. It is reported that the Saudi minister will discuss the rising tension between the two countries.
Tension escalated in the region on February 14 when 45 CRPF troopers were killed in a terrorist attack in Kashmir's Pulwama district.
Following the incident, India on February 26, claimed bombing and destroying JeM training camp in Balakot, Pakistan.
In retaliation to the Indian airstrikes, Pakistan "entered" into Indian airspace and shot down India's MiG 21 and captured the pilot. India said it lost the MiG 21 in the aerial engagement with Pakistani jets but claimed it shot down Pakistani F16.
India has so far neither cofirmed nor refuted the media reports about Adel Al-Jubeir's visit to the country.
