06 Muslims in Mamata Banerji's list of 42 for 2019 Lok Sabha Elections

Kolkata (West Bengal): A total of 06 Muslims and 17 women figured in the Trinamool Congress Party (TMC) list of 42 in West Bengal for the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.

Among the 06 Muslims who have been finalized as TMC candidates for the 2019 Parliamentary elections by Bengal Chief Minieter Mamata Banerjee are Mausam Noor (Maldha Uttar), Md Moazzem Hossain (Maldha Dakshin), Khalilur Rehman (Jangipur), Abu Taher Khan (Murshidabad), Nusrat Jahan (Basirhat) and Sajda Ahmed (Uluberia).

West Bengal will vote in seven phases starting from April 11, 2019. Polling for the last and 7th Phase will be held on May 19. Counting of votes will be done on May 23 and results will be declared on the same day.

"May 19 will be the end of Modi's rule. A person who has instilled a sense of fear among the people must go", Mamata Banerjee said while releasing the names of all TMC candidates.

"Farmers, Adivasis, Dalits and women are being persecuted. The youth are being harassed and neglected", she said.

"He has somehow managed to frighten everyone. It's like black magic. Why should we be scared of a political leader? Those who are scared, they will die. I am not scared... I will fight along with all of our friends to defeat Modi," she added.

About the women candidates nominated by the TMC, Banerjee said she was proud of the number. "I am all the more happy and proud becuase 41% of our candidates (17/42 seats) are women", she said.

The All India Trinamool Congress (TMC) had won a total of 34 seats in the 2014 Parliamentary elections. 04 seats were won by Congress while CPI (M) and BJP had won 02 seats each.

Mamata Banerjee has dropped 10 sitting MPs in her list for the 2019 General elections.
