Mumbai: Supports poured in for All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) Chief and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi a day after a Bhopal lawyer lodged police complaint against him over the former's remarks on Ayodhya verdict by the Supreme Court of India.
Twitter is flooded with supporting messages and hashtag #IAmAsadOwaisi trended all through the day on the micro blogging social media site. By the evening, the hashtag was among the top trends on Twitter with more than 79,000 messages posted using it.
"It's very though to be a vocal Muslim in India. Many people have criticized/Disagreed with Supreme Court's Babri Masjid Verdict", Twitter user M Asif Khan wrote using @imMAK02.
"But only Owaisi was being abused by Bhakts/Media, He was called traitor bcz he is Muslim. I am UNAPOLOGETIC abt my Muslim identity", he added.
Shahnawaz Ansari (@shanu_sab) posted a video clip of Asaduddin Owais's speech where he can be heard saying, "My forefathers rejected the ideology of Jinnah and we said that India is our country. I am not only an Indian by birth but also by choice, which no one can take away from me."
"He (Owaisi) is the leader who taught constitution to the 9pm Nationalists. These fake nationalists did not know about Article 15, 16, 29 &30 until it was quoted by my leader during the debates @asadowaisi", Twitter user Mohd Anas (@MoAnasOfficial) wrote.

Supporters flooded Twitter hailing Owaisi after Advocate Pawan Kumar lodged a complaint against the AIMIM Chiefi at the Jahangirabad police station over his remarks on the Ayodhya verdict on Saturday.
The FIR has been registered against Asaduddin Owaisi for inciting a section of the society with his remarks.
Reacting to the Supreme Court verdict, Asaduddin Owaisi expressed apprehension that the Sangh Pariwar might use this judgment in cases of many other mosques on which they have claims. He said their list includes the mosques at Mathura, Kashi and Lucknow.
Qouting Justice Verma, Owaisi also said "Supreme Court is supreme but not infallible".
