Farooq Shah of AIMIM wins in Dhule City of Maharashtra

This is the first time since 1936 when a Muslim has won from Dhule which has over 30% population of the minority community

Dhule City Assembly Election Result 2019: Shah Farooq Anwar of All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) has won the 2019 Maharashtra state election from the Dhule City assembly constituency.

According to the final result announced by Maharashtra State Election Commission, Farook Shah of AIMIM got 42,190 votes and defeated sitting MLA and his nearest rival of Loksangram Anil Gote by 7,566 votes.

This is the first time since 1936 when a Muslim has won from Dhule which has over 30% population of the minority community. In 1936, Advocate Basheeruddin Qazi was the Muslim to win from Dhule.

Besides Dhule City, AIMIM of Asaduddin Owaisi has also won the 2019 Maharashtra election in Malegaon Center and Auranagabad East.

In Malegaon Center AIMIM candidate Mufti Mohammad Ismail has defeated Asif Shaikh of Congress wherease dr Abdul Gaffar Qadri of AIMIM has won the Aurnagabad East election against Shiv Sena candidate.

However, AIMIM got setbacks in Aurangabad Central and Byculla Mumbai seats. In Aurangabad assembly seat from where AIMIM MP Imtiyaz Jaleel in 2014, Naser Siddiqui lost the election to the Shiv Sena candidate.

Similarly, sitting AIMIM MLA from Byculla Waris Pathan lost the 2019 election against the Shiv Sena.

In another important gain for the AIMIM, the Hyderabad based party has won the by-election in Kishanganj, Bihar. Here, Qamrul Huda of AIMIM defeated Sweety Singh of BJP and Saeeda Bano of Congress.

Polling for the state elections in Maharashtra and by-election in Bihar were held on Monday October 21, 2019.

As per the latest results and trends released by the state election commission, ruling Shiv Sena and BJPare leading on 154 seats - a loss of 31 seats as compared to 2014. Congress and NCP on the other hand are leading on 107 seats - a gain of 22 seats as compared to the last election.
