2019 Haryana Assembly Election Results: A total of 03 Muslims - all from the Congress party, have won the 2019 Haryana Assembly elections results of which were announced Thursday.

The total number of Muslims winning the 2019 Haryana elections is same as their tally in 2014.

Haryana has a Muslim population of about 7%, and the state assembly has a total of 90 seats. Based on their population and the number of seats in the state assembly, representation of Muslims should have been more.

List of Muslims who won the 2019 Haryana Elections

1. Mannan Khan of Congress (Ferozepur Jhirka)
2. Aftab Ahmed of Congress (Nuh)
3. Mohd Ilyas of Congress (Punhana)

Aftab Ahmed, former minister and Vice President of Haryana Congress, has defeated sitting MLA Zakir Hussain in Nuh Assembly constituency. Zakir Husain had won the 2014 Haryana election as INLD candidate. In 2019, however, Zakir Hussain was fielded by the ruling Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP).

Other prominent Muslim who lost the 2019 election is Akram Khan. Akram contested the 2019 eletion from Jagadhri seat. He bagged about 50,000 votes. But lost the seat to Kanwar Palof BJP who polled 66,376 votes.

Similarly, Javed Ahmad of BSP and Shamsuddin of Congress contested the 2019 Haryana election from Sohna seat. The two respectively got 39,868 and 10,735. But, they lost the seat to Sanjay Singh of BJP who polled 59,117 votes.

According to the final result announced by the Election Commission, the ruling BJP has won 39 seats and is leading on 01, Congress has won 31 seats, Jannayak Janta Party has won 10 seats, Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) and Haryana Lokhit Party have each won 01 seat, besides 07 Independent candidates.

A party needs the support of at least 45 MLAs to form government in the state. Results, however, indicate that the state will have a hung house.
