Maharashtra Assembly Election Result 2019: Ruling BJP-Shiv Sena alliance is leading in 178 assembly seats whereas Congress, NCP and its alliance partners are ahead in just 89 assembly seats, according to trends at 10:30 am.
Trends at 10:30 am showed, BJP is leading in 107 seats while Shiv Sena candidates are ahead in 70 seats. Congress is leading in 39 seats and its alliance partner NCP is ahead in 50 seats.
Among the prominent leaders are Chhagan Bhujbal leading in Yeola, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis in Nagpur, Abu Asim Azmi in Mumbai, Other who are leading in Maharashtra are Ashok Chavan and Prthviraj Chavan.
Counting of votes stored in EVMs is taking place round-wise on multiple tables one at a time. While trends and lead position is expected to trickle in by 08:30 am, the final results are expected by today afternoon.

08:05 am: The Election Commission of India has started counting of votes in all 288 assembly constituencies polling for which was held Monday, October 21, 2019.
07:00 am: The Election Commission of India is set to start shortly the counting of votes in all 288 assembly constituencies, also known as Vidhan Sabha seats, of Maharashtra polling for which was held Monday, October 21, 2019.
According to Maharashtra State Election Commission, the porcess will start at around 08:00 am with counting of Postal Ballots. Postal Ballots contain the votes of government servants who are posted in different areas of the state on the polling day. Postal ballots also contain votes of army men and natives of Maharashtra on government duty at any other place on the polling day.
After counting of postal ballots, counting of votes stored in Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) will start. Special arrangements have been made for the purpose by the state election department in all 288 Vidhan Sabha seats.

Maharashtra had registered around 60 per cent in by and large peaceful polling on Monday. Tribal areas in different parts of the state such as Thane, Palghar, Chandrapur and Nandurbar recorded a higher turnout while most other parts of the state, especially the urban and semi-urban areas, lagged behind. State capital Mumbai recorded around 46 per cent while the second capital - Nagpur - registered 56 per cent turnout.
The BJP-Shiv Sena combine had bagged 185 seats in the last Assembly elections held in 2014, after which a government headed by Devendra Fadnavis was formed in Maharashtra. The Exit Poll results are predicting victory for the ruling alliance giving it an expected tally of 192 to 206 seats.
The exit poll is giving the Congress-Nationalist Congress Party combine 55-81 seats and others 8 to 15 seats.
In terms of vote share, the BJP-led coalition seems to be getting 55.3 per cent in Mumbai, 49.1 in Konkan, 48.3 per cent in North Maharashtra, 44.6 per cent in Vidarbha, 44.5 per cent in West Maharashtra and 42.4 per cent in Marathvada.
The UPA on the other hand appeared to have got the maximum of 42.4 per cent in Marathvada, followed by 41.7 per cent in North Maharashtra, 41.5 per cent in West Maharashtra, 33.7 per cent in Vidarbha, 28.5 per cent in Konkan and 27.2 per cent in Mumbai, according to Exit Poll result.
In Malegaon Center assembly seat where Mufti Ismail of AIMIM and Asif Shaikh of Congress are in direct contest, Exit Poll results predict victory for the former. In Malegaon Outer seat, sitting MLA Dada Bhuse is set to retain the seat for 4th consecutive term.
