Hyderabad: Stage is set for Hyderabad Million March against Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), National Register of Citizens (NRC) and National Population Register (NPR) today at Dharna Chowk.
The Hyderabad Million March called by Telangana and AP Joint Action Committee (JAC) - an umbrella platform of 40 Muslim and non-Muslim organisations, will be held between 02 to 05 pm today.
As many as 12000 schools have also supported today's march against CAA-NRC-NPR and organisations claimed that students of all schools will join the march along with their parents.
The organisers said different groups of Hindus and Muslims will participate in the march switching their dresses. While Muslims will don traditional Hindu dresses, Hindus will sport traditional Muslim attire.
This "Adla Badli" of dresses will be to condemn Prime Minister Narendra Modi's assertion made during an election rally that those protesting against the CAA and NRC can be identified by their dresses.
"Now PM Modi must identify the protesting youngsters with their attire", the organisers said.
On Friday, as many as 500 advocates and lawyers of Telangana state have announced that they will be part of the Hyderabad Million March Saturday. They also announced to run campaigns against CAA, NRC and NPR.
The Telangana government had earlier denied the JAC permission for the Million March. The organisation got the permission only after they changed the venue from People's Plaza to Dharna Chowk.
While granting the permission, the Telangana police has also imposed a number of conditions. The police, in the permission letter, has said that Md Mushtaq Malik, convenor of the TS & AP JAC, will be held responsible for any untoward incident that may be provoked or engineered during the protest. The JAC will be liable for prosecution for the damage of properties.

Hyderabad Million March, if goes as per plans, will be the largest protest march against CAA, NRC and NPR. On Wednesday more than half a million people had gathered in Kochi, Kerala to protest against the controversial law.
Protests are being held in different parts of India, including in New Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Lucknow, Patna, Ahmedabad, Guwahati, Shillong, Bhopal, Chenai, against CAA ever since it was passed by the Parliament on December 11. However, Kochi protest is billed the biggest so far.
AIMIM Chief Asaduddin Owaisi has also planned a rally against CAA-NRC-NPR today at Ambedkar Stadium. Reports said the police has not given the needed permission to Owaisi's United Muslim Action Committee for today's protest.
However, late on Friday evening it was announced that United Muslim Action Committee and Samvidhan Raksha Committee will hold a protest meeting against NRC/NPR/CAA at Ambedkar Stadium in Sangareddy, over 50 km away from Hyderabad, at 6 p.m on January 4.
