ISC, ICSE July 2020 Board Exam: The Council For The Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) has asked the ISC Class 12 and ICSE Class 10 students all across India and abroad to decide if they want to appear for the pending exams scheduled in July 2020 or opt to get evaluated on the basis of internal assessment marks.
The CISCE decision came in the wake of a petition filed in the Bombay High Court seeking cancellation of the ISC Class 12th and ICSE Class 10th board exams scheduled in July.
The petition field by Arvind Tiwari stated that due to the high number of Covid-19 cases in Maharashtra, it would be better if ICSE board exam is cancelled and results are declared on the basis of gradation and assessment of past performance in internal exams conducted by the schools.
In its reply, the CISCE said the safety guidelines planned for the July 2020 exams will take care of the students' health. Yet, it asked the students to choose from one of the two options - either appear in the July 2020 exams or agree for their result to be calculated based on internal assessment.
"To make the necessary arrangements for conducting the examinations, each of the affiliated schools will be required to intimate the Council about the option selected by each of their students on or before June 22, 2020", the Council said in a notification dated June 15 published on its website.
"This is to clarify that a student will not be entitled to make a subject-wise choice between the given options", the Council said.
The ICSE Class 10 and ISC Class 12th board exams were postponed in March due to the Covid-19 lockdown and were re-scheduled in July. The Council had released on May 22 the revised time table (date sheet) to conduct the exams in the month of July.
